::STARS Transition Service

As a student moves toward finishing their secondary schooling the question “what happens next?” is usually asked. For many students there is little continuation or coordination of post school support services, which can result in students falling through the gaps in gaining continuous and appropriate services.

STARS aims to work with students, families and other involved agencies before and after the student leaves school in order to provide successful supported employment opportunities. The goal of transition is the uninterrupted movement of students into post school education and/or employment. The transition program will work with students between the ages of 16–21 from designated schools/tertiary institutions in the Wairarapa region.

Clients may enrol with STARS Transition Service if they are in transition from school or training. We will:

- Assess students’ job needs and develop a career plan

- Support students’ in job searching, interviews and applications

- Find work experience placements with employers

- Provide workplace training and support.

You may enroll with STARS transition service by phoning or calling into the office. We will then arrange a time for an enrolment interview. The office at 1 Park Avenue is open from 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday. Appointments can be made outside these hours by prior arrangement.
